Reincarnation

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

Being a purple demon sent up from the underworld to bring back one of it's inhabitants, it's a good thing for you it's Halloween, you blend in. Reincarnation All Hallow's Eve is a far more elaborate game than I usually post here, featuring animated characters with voice tracks, and a story to follow. Your task is to explore a human neighbourhood, collect and sometimes combine items, and use them to bring back a "reincarny", a creature who should be in Hell, but has managed to escape and pass itself off as human. Can you complete the task in time to go out this weekend and grab some candy?  [More]

Kalaqui

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

Oh, this week's puzzle room is a fun one. Kalaquli places you inside a ninja house. What does that mean? It means you'll find throwing stars inside hidden panels, clues behind rotating walls, and trick floors. This is a house you may want to live in rather than escape from. Many games in this genre spend more time on the look of their rooms than the puzzle objects you find within and that's not the case here. What looks like a very simple room in design gives way to clever changes and objects that are worth inspecting for their detail. Good luck! [More]

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

Here's a twist I haven't seen before. An escape puzzle made up of four identical rooms, all interconnected. Same walls, same doors, same furniture, and curious little knick-knacks, but an entirely different set of clues, hidden objects, and puzzles. The trick happens as you move through them, collecting and picking up the items contained, and suddenly need to remember where you found an item. Hard when all the rooms look the same. Escape From The Same Room 2 is made by Japanese designers Tesshi-e and as always with their work features wonderfully polished visuals and objects that clearly defined and attractive to the eye. There puzzles are always fun to explore, but this one might make you dizzy. Good luck.  [More]

The insidious Mr. K has invited you to use your wits and point-and-click skills discover the secret exit out of his latest puzzle room. Created by Tesshi-e, Japanese masters of the genre, you'll find a gorgeous room of fine objects, paintings, and electronics to explore, each harbouring clues and secret puzzles to solve, all leading to the big escape. Tessh-e rates this as a "mild" escape, so you should be able to get through with some work. When you visit the page, scroll down to find the game window, watch the intro and then click to start the game. Look for controls (like BGM to turn off music) on the lower right.  [More]

Pizza Quest 77

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

This week your task isn't to escape the room so much as it is to escape the munchies in Pizza Quest '77. The year is 1977 and it's one of those days when you're not wearing any pants. The solution is to order in a pizza, but you need money, so the goal is to scour the basement as quickly as you can for the cash needed to cover the order. Fun, campy, and clever, there are surprises a plenty waiting for you including hell cats, iguanas, appliances with a mind of their own and one very groovy soundtrack. Get down to it poppers and good luck.

I like the 3D opening of Camel Eye, an escape puzzle in which you are a famous thief breaking into a repository. Full of interesting objects to collect, strange puzzles, and more space to explore than you might think at first, what may seem a bit confusing at first is actually fairly logical in execution. To play the game in English make sure to click on the yellow button on the lower-left hand corner to access the system menu for the language settings.

Prime Catch

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

The first in a new series of puzzle rooms from Pastel Games (Creators of Submachine), Sneak Thief Prime Catch challenges you to slip into Professor Bellamy's secret lab and uncover one of his hidden inventions. The twist is you'll need the invention in order to escape and this time you won't be leaving through the front door. A very easy, but enjoyable puzzle Prime Catch has some great energy, a touch of humour, and fun puzzles that will leave you wanting more.

Legacy

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

This week I offer you an escape that is entirely made of sound. BBC Scotland's Legacy is an audio adventure intended to be played using headphones and a set of basic keyboard commands. There's a rudimentary visual made up of walls and an arrow in the dark should you need it, but the focus of the game is to listen to the sounds of the character's movements to help you find secret items, doors to other chambers, and interact with puzzles. Since we are so used to exploring our environments, this can be quite a frustrating game at first, but I wanted to include it here in this series because it's such an original take on the genre and well, BBC Scotland is quite good at doing radio dramas. Here you play Harry who joins his twin sister Jules in cleaning out the old, dark attic belonging to their Aunt Rose who has just passed. Rose had a thing for puzzles and as they poke around in the dark they uncover a series of her intriguing mysteries and set out to solve them. Tricky, yes, but if you can embrace the auditory sense of space, it's rewarding too.

Symon

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

Symon has a great deal to do, but lying in a hospital bed all he can do is dream. This is fascinating point-and-click adventure from the Singapore-MIT Gambit Game Lab where the puzzles are designed to follow the logic of dreams, meaning that they make sense, but not quite. You can choose to "wake-up" during the game, but if you do the game generates a new set of puzzles, the idea being that you can return and play again, even if you've finished it. It has a wonderful, interpretive feel, making it easy to fall into Symon's world and want to stay there for the whole weekend. Good luck.

Escape From Ladies Room

It's Friday and that means its time to lock you away inside one of the many puzzle rooms scattered across the internet. Can you find your way out in time to enjoy the weekend?

This week brings a rather novel prison in Escape From The Ladies Room. Trapped inside a public restroom you must search the stalls, the sinks, and the mirrors for hidden items and clues to discover a way out. The situation's a funny one, but it's a rather perfect scenario when you think of all the different areas a restroom has for hiding things, from the baby change table to hand dryers and toilet roll dispensers. A bathroom can definitely supply a number of useful tools, you just have to be creative in how you use them. Thankfully, there isn't a line of people waiting outside to get in. Good luck.
