I’m lucky to be part of a wonderful culture here in Canada and that’s something I try to show off through what I wear on App Central. Each season I hunt for cool Canadian T-shirt designers. There’s no deal here, I just search through their catalog for something that catches my eye (and I’m pretty particular) and then, well, buy it and wear it on TV. They only find out about it when I tweet the fact or write about it here on my blog. It’s an easy way to express the creativity of our little world north of the border here.

If the original Galaxy Tab was the best tablet Samsung could create within the short time they were given, the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 is finally a tablet created using all the time needed. The two may have the same name, but they are worlds apart. The original was smaller, unpolished, and had to make do with software created for cell phones. It seems chunky now, but it allowed Samsung to respond quickly to Apple as a threat and its humble success closed the question on whether 7” tablets might be more popular (they aren’t). The new Galaxy is larger, thinner, lighter, and uses new software from Google that is made with tablets in mind. It is slick, polished, trimmed, and professional in feel and performance. I’ve tested Samsung devices for more than ten years now and think this I s one of their finest. [More]

With the Galaxy II we’ve moved past the idea of “thin” smartphones to one that is now flat. If I were to give you a piece of gingerbread and you were to put it in your pocket and walk around with it, you’d have a good idea what it’s like to carry this phone. It’s wide, flat, light in weight, and with corners that are more squarish than round. It’s more attractive in looks than ergonomic in design, more focused than minimal. It is a large, vibrant screen mounted against a powerful processor and little else, because to most Android fans today that alone is beautiful.

If you’re looking to explore the city of Toronto you’ll find a fantastic guide within App Central. Each week I take a mobile app and test it out in the wild. Being based in the city, we’ve done all the research in finding cool places and exceptional people to partner with and are happy to share that list with you for your own adventures. Be they as fun and memorable as my own.

Ah the thrill of the hunt. To walk into an interesting store and scan the tables for that one image, that one idea that stands out amongst the black thread piles with imaginative fanfare. Here I present to you all the shirts I found for App Central. With the launch of a new television series I decided it’d be fun to wear a different shirt for each episode and being Canadian to focus my choices on local artists.
