Halloween Games” height=Perhaps the most familiar and comforting franchise on the PlayStation system, the Ratchet & Clank series found its fun groove very early on and has been repeating and building on it for eleven games. If you’ve played one you know exactly what to expect with any of the others and the latest, A Crack In Time, is no different. You have platform puzzles, action-adventure worlds, a crazy arsenal of weapons and gadgets, items to collect, and zany characters that act out scenes of satire and slapstick. The main difference this time is that the series has never looked so good, delivering one of the most visually stimulating games on the PS3. [More]

Hallowcarver

Last year on CFTO I showcased Hallowindow.com, a brilliant DVD concept that makes your house come alive by Canadian animator Mark Gervais and this year, in addition to releasing a third DVD compilation and new downloadable clips, he's also come up with a fantastic Halloween app for the iPod Touch and iPhone. Hallowcarver allows you to carve a virtual pumpkin using your finger and then share it across Twitter, Facebook, or the Hallowcarver online gallery. It costs just 99 cents, is very easy to use and the controls, combined with a selection of backgrounds allow you a full range of creative freedom.  [More]

War of the Worlds

While you;re gutting the pumpkin, bagging the candy, and putting on the finishing touches on your costume and decorations tonight, you can listen to Orson Welles' historic War Of The Worlds radio broadcast through a special tribute streaming online tonight at 8PM EST at http://waroftheworldstribute.com/. The timing of tonight's broadcast will place it exactly seventy-one years, to the minute, from it's original broadcast in 1938 as part of The Mercury Theatre series. To chilling effect, Welles decided to present H. G. Wells' story as a series of real-time faux news broadcasts, an effect heightened by a lack of commercials, which news stations would drop during an emergency. The results were too successful, inspiring panic and hysteria amongst large groups of listeners who thought the reports of an alien invasion were real and began to spread the word amongst friends and families. While the story and it's performance are both brilliantly done, part of the fun of revisiting the program is to imagine what it would have been like to be one of those panicked listeners, already on edge with thoughts of invasion during an age of World War.  [More]

”Don't

We all have bad hair days or moments of creativity or a desire to experiment with our looks (a good thing regardless how poor the results are), but at Don't Judge My Hair you'll find those who were brave enough to step in front of a camera with theirs. The new blog allows users to submit photos of hair disasters and in addition to featuring photos of regular folk, many who posed for the camera years before the internet arrived, a move they'd probably like to take back now, you'll also find pics of professionals too, those who work in fashion or the arts. Personally when it comes to disasters, I prefer cake[More]

Telus Blackberry Tour

It's a trick as old as the invention of the phone itself. To take someone's handset and turn it into a listening device, allowing you to hear what the phone itself hears and spy on the oblivious owner. Symantec has released a report on a new version of this scheme, one that targets Blackberry users and centres on a malicious app with the name "Phonesnoop". Once activated, it allows the malicious individual to remotely connect to the victim's Blackberry and activate it's speakerphone. The result is the same had the person planted a microphone on the victim and can now listen in on everything happening within range of the phone. The good news is that the threat is only theoretical, there's no reports at this time that anyone has actually been targeted with such a trick, and that the reality is, in order for someone to plant this on your Blackberry, they'd have to have direct and physical access to your phone and you'd have to ignore the obvious signs [More]

As a solitary beacon in the night, a Lighthouse is sure to attract it's share of insects, but what if one night the lighthouse you're in charge of would attract something a little larger than your usually moth? I mean, really big. Just in time for Halloween here's another fantastic short from that wonderful animation school in France, Les Gobelins. The Lighthouse Keeper is by David Francois, Rony Hotin, Jeremie Moreau, Baptiste Rogron, Gaelie Thierry, and Mailys Vallade.
